April Chisholm Studeny has been teaching cello and performing professionally in the Baltimore-Washington area since 2008. At that time she opened the New Cello School in Baltimore. This program exists to provide the highest quality instruction in a supportive setting, encouraging student success at home, school, and beyond.

Ms. Studeny currently teaches through her private studio in Towson/Baltimore, at the Bryn Mawr School, and also leads introductory classes at Music for the Young Child. Previous positions include teaching at the College of Notre Dame, and the Baltimore Montessori School through the BRIDGES program. Alongside her teaching activities, April maintains a busy performing schedule with the Annapolis Symphony and the National Philharmonic.

Before coming to Baltimore, April taught at Chicago's esteemed Music Institute of Chicago. Originally from Oregon, April studied cello performance at the University of Oregon, and earned a Masters of Music degree from the University of Michigan. After graduating, she played with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and taught at many music programs.
